Given that my assigned sculpture was Torso of the Statue of Aphrodite—Aphrodite being the goddess of love, pleasure, and purity— I instantly connected the piece back to my own sense womanhood and femininity. It really got me thinking about the women in my life and how they inspire me. The thing that most inspires me about women is their versatility and adaptability. I think it's amazing that women are able to learn to love, grow, and thrive, even in environments that are not always supportive of them. My hope was for this arrangement to be a love letter to women, a celebration of women, and a reminder to women to practice self love. We only get 35 words for our on-pedestal synopsis, and mine was "For the women who've learned to love yourselves unconditionally despite being pushed into the shadows, know that you are everything. This is a love letter to you and a reminder to give yourself your flowers."
